Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms govern your use of the CanopyStone platform, owned and operated by ByteScaped LLC. By requesting a quote or accepting a job, you agree to them.
1. What CanopyStone Is
CanopyStone is a marketplace. We connect homeowners with independent lawn-care providers. We are not the service provider, we do not employ the providers, and the work itself is performed under a direct agreement between you and the provider you select.
2. Quotes
Quotes are generated from public Mecklenburg County parcel records: lot area less the buildings and paved surfaces the County records. Where the County has the buildings but no record of the paving, a provider's quote measures the paving from aerial imagery, and the provider reviews it before it is sent. Where the County data is missing, internally inconsistent, or describes a shared parcel, we withhold the quote rather than issue one we cannot stand behind.
3. Booking, Payment and Cancellation
Accepting a quote authorises payment through Stripe. Providers pay no monthly fees. On each job, CanopyStone charges the provider a platform fee of 6.5% of the job price up to $307.69 (a $20.00 fee); above that, $20.00 plus 3% of the amount over $307.69. The fee includes credit card processing: providers pay nothing extra for it. The customer pays the quoted price and no more. A booking may be cancelled without charge until a provider is dispatched. After dispatch, cancellation terms are set by the provider and shown before you confirm.
4. Payment Authorization, Review Window & Delinquency Administration
Stored Credential Authorization (Merchant-Initiated Transactions): By accepting a quote, you authorize ByteScaped LLC d/b/a CanopyStone to securely store your credit or debit card credential via our payment processing partner, Stripe, and to initiate charges against that card without further affirmative action for:
- The full quoted amount immediately upon the Provider marking the service complete;
- Any agreed deposit or progress milestone on multi-stage projects; and
- Any approved Change Orders or add-on services you explicitly authorize. CanopyStone reserves the right to place a temporary pre-authorization hold on your payment method up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled service date to verify fund availability.
5-Day Review Period & Constructive Acceptance: Upon Provider completion and submission of photographic proof-of-work, you will receive an automated completion notice via SMS or email. You are granted an inspection window of five (5) calendar days starting from the transmission of the completion notice to either confirm customer sign-off or file a formal dispute through your CanopyStone dashboard. If you do not confirm approval or submit a formal dispute within five (5) calendar days, the service is deemed irrevocably accepted, approved, and final. Upon the expiration of this window, all conditional payment holds terminate, the transaction becomes fully settled and non-refundable, and net funds are released to the Provider.
Administrative Payment Review & Discretionary Settlement: If you report an issue within the 5-day review window, payout release to the Provider is temporarily paused. To initiate an administrative review, you must submit clear photographic evidence demonstrating that the work was incomplete or deviated materially from the booking specifications.
- (a) Limited Administrative Role: You acknowledge that ByteScaped LLC d/b/a CanopyStone is not a court, licensed arbitrator, or judicial tribunal, and owes no fiduciary duties to either party. CanopyStone’s authority is strictly limited to administering the commercial release, adjustment, withholding, or refund of funds held in the platform's payment flow pursuant to these Terms.
- (b) Sole Discretionary Settlement: Within fourteen (14) calendar days of receiving evidence from both parties, CanopyStone will make an administrative determination regarding the disposition of the held funds. CanopyStone reserves the right, in its sole and absolute business discretion, to: (i) release the net payout to the Provider; (ii) issue a partial or full platform credit or refund to the Customer; or (iii) condition payout release upon the Provider performing a corrective re-service.
- (c) Scope of Decision: CanopyStone’s administrative decision governs only the distribution of platform-held funds and does not constitute a legal determination of fault, liability, or property damage. Neither party is precluded from pursuing independent legal remedies or insurance claims against the other outside the platform.
Payment Declines, Administrative Late Fees & Right to Suspend: If an automated card charge fails upon job completion or milestone trigger (e.g., due to insufficient funds, card expiration, or bank fraud blocks), you remain legally obligated for the balance. CanopyStone will notify you immediately with a secure direct payment link. If the account remains unsettled after forty-eight (48) hours:
- A fixed Administrative Late Fee of $25.00 will be assessed to your balance to offset secondary processing and collection costs;
- For active or multi-stage projects, the Provider reserves the absolute right to immediately suspend on-site labor and material deliveries until all outstanding amounts are paid in full; and
- CanopyStone reserves the right to re-attempt processing across any secondary payment method stored on your profile.
5. Provider Obligations
Providers warrant that they hold current liability insurance, that the documents they upload are genuine, and that they are legally entitled to operate in North Carolina. Providing false compliance documents terminates the account.
6. SMS Messaging
By opting in you agree to receive transactional SMS about your quotes and jobs. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. For support, contact support@bytescaped.com. Opting out of SMS does not close your account, but job offers are dispatched by SMS and you may stop receiving them.
7. Limitation of Liability
CanopyStone is not liable for the quality, timeliness, or safety of work performed by a provider. Our liability in connection with the platform is limited to the commission we received on the transaction in question.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified by email before they take effect.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina.
